چکیده

INTRODUCTION Under a Small Business Innovative Research program sponsored by the Missile Defense Agency, Pacific Advanced Technology (PAT, the parent company to Gas Imaging Technology, LLC) is developing an approach to infrared spectral imaging that will enable production of a much smaller, more robust, lower cost optical imaging system for the Smart LDAR community than is available today. This new technology is based on diffractive optical lenslet arrays and a patented approach to spectral imaging. This approach will also reduce data collection time, allow for improved spectral and radiometric sensitivity, and enable robust algorithms for autonomously locating, identifying and quantifying gas leaks.

Total internal reflection holography for optical interconnections

Planar diffractive optical elements are well suited to fulfill the needs of optical interconnections. They are efficient and can serve as focusing elements, imaging elements, beam deflectors, and fan-out elements. Almost any shape of structure can be realized. This flexibility allows complex and compact interconnections. Two different types of diffractive optical elements exist: the holographic...

Computer simulation and optimization of a free - space optical interconnection system

The optical transpose interconnection system (OTIS) provides a global interconnection using only a pair of lenslet arrays. We have designed and optimized various OTIS systems based on refractive, spherical diffractive, and aspheric diffractive lenslets. The optimization goal is to maximize power coupling into the elements of a detector array. The various design approaches are compared and the o...

Integral imaging using phase-only LCoS spatial light modulators as Fresnel lenslet arrays.

We present a digital integral imaging system. A Fresnel lenslet array pattern is written on a phase-only LCoS spatial light modulator device (SLM) to replace the regular analog lenslet array in a conventional integral imaging system. We theoretically analyze the capture part of the proposed system based on Fresnel wave propagation formulation. Because of pixelation and quantization of the lensl...

Ray-optical refraction with confocal lenslet arrays

Two parallel lenslet arrays with focal lengths f1 and f2 that share a common focal plane (that is, which are separated by a distance f1 + f2) can refract transmitted light rays according to Snell’s law, but with the ‘sin’s replaced with ‘tan’s. This is the case for a limited range of input angles and other conditions. Such confocal lenslet arrays can therefore simulate the interface between opt...

Characteristics of optimized fibre-optic ultrasound receivers for minimally invasive photoacoustic detection

A range of miniature (125μm o.d.) fibre optic ultrasound sensors based on the use of interferometric polymer optical cavities has been developed for minimally invasive photoacoustic imaging and sensing applications. It was observed that by careful selection of both the fibre tip and cavity geometry it is possible to achieve exceptional acoustic performance. Specifically, rounding the tip of the...
